What Do They Say About Women Who Drink Tequila?

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

Well, speaking for myself as a woman who drinks my fair share of tequila, I can tell you from experience it is the only spirit that does not give me a headache or hangover. Not to mention the taste is full of flavor. There are so many ways to enjoy tequila including neat, chilled, or in a craft cocktail. On Thanksgiving at my house, as we share what we are grateful for after a delicious feast, we skip the pie and bring out Señor Rio tequila. The snifters are filled with Reposado to showcase this uncomplicated expression and served with chilled oranges sprinkled with Cinnamon or Tajin (a Red Pepper seasoning) to compliment the tequila. This is a great way to digest this wonderful meal and share stories of how thankful we are.

NO LONGER THE POOR MAN’S DRINK Once upon a time, tequila was known as a poor man’s drink. Now it’s really trending with case sales in the millions and the United States leading Mexico in tequila consumption. Ladies, you know who you are and thank you for contributing to the increase in tequila sales! We women who drink, or shall I say, sip tequila have a fine appreciation for this interesting spirit. I often say that “Real Women Drink Tequila” and that has never been true than it is now. Most women do the shopping in the household and even if they aren’t sipping tequila, they are using it in their cocktails. I do enjoy creating cocktails and my favorite one is The Señor Rio Margatini and it is my go-to classic for unwinding after a long week. It is all natural, has a low glycemic index, and in my opinion better than a day at the spa. It’s made with a double shot of tequila and honestly after one, you feel like you just had a massage because that’s how relaxed you can get. WOMEN LOVE THIS LOW-CALORIE SPIRIT TOO

Women who drink tequila also know how to have a good time and enjoy life not taking things to seriously. Do you know that a 1 ounce serving of tequila is only 80 calories? You can enjoy this tasty spirit and keep your girlish figure too. When summer comes, I have just one bikini…the one size fits all Señor Rio Pink Bikini. This girly cocktail is very easy to make and so refreshing. I created this “Pink It Up” cocktail to raise awareness about breast cancer and to honor women who have battled this horrible disease. Today women make up a good percentage of tequila connoisseurs. We don’t hold back when it comes to tequila and we are straight shooters (not necessarily always taking shots) because we have a “tell it like it is” style. We are also friendly, passionate, resilient, brave, confident, honest and some of us are without a filter too! I find that my tequila girlfriends will always go the extra mile for me and make the best out of every situation. I read that Oprah is a tequila drinker and she would take a shot after she filed her taxes. I’d probably need a couple of shots with her tax return! Good thing Señor Rio is a small, woman owned business…maybe one day it will be a household brand with women supporting women.

To all the ladies near and far who love their tequila and always have a smile to share along with a good tequila story, I hold my glass up to you!

Salud!
